Integration

• The Mechanical Engineering Department - DEM is attached to the Polytechnical School - POLI/UFRJ. DEM was founded in 1987, as a result of the merging between the Thermic Engineering Department and the Mechanical Technology Department of the so called Engineering School of UFRJ.

• The Mechanical Engineering Program - PEM is attached to COPPE/UFRJ. PEM, founded in 1965, is the second graduate program instituted by the Coordination of Engineering Graduate Programs of UFRJ.

• POLI and COPPE are academic units of UFRJ, attached to its Technology Center.

• Since 1988, DEM and PEM act integrated, under the Coordination of the same faculty member, auxiliated by an Undergraduate Studies Academic Coordinator and a Graduate Studies Academic Coordinator.

• The academic and technical-scientific activities held at DEM and PEM are developed by its faculty members and respective undergraduate and graduate student bodies auxiliated by the technical-administrative body, in an integrated, stimulating and diverse environment.

• Wide and well-equipped infrastructure of Laboratories, Library and advanced recourses in informational technology.
